90 Points Vinous Media 2016 Ransom Wine Company Jigsaw Pinot Noir
Brilliant red. High-pitched red fruit and floral scents, along with a hint of blood orange. Smooth and spicy on the palate, offering gently sweet raspberry and cherry flavors and a touch of smokiness that builds with air. A bitter chocolate nuance emerges on the persistent, focused finish, which features repeating red fruit character and fine-grained tannins.

I always look for value, especially Pinot. It is hard to make good inexpensive Pinot. Yields have to be kept low, terroir MATTERS and the grape is delicate to work with, if you want juice with some body and complexity it usually costs you. Anyway, Ransom is a great producer and their entry level wine, while not in the league of vineyard designated bottlings really shows lots of character. Rich berry fruit with at touch of funk in the background to keep you coming back for another taste.
