Paul Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Thalabert 2015 Red French Rhone Wine 750 mL

$44.99

97 points Jeb Dunnuck: “The finest vintage to date, better even than the stellar 2010, the 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine De Thalabert is a gorgeous, deep, layered, and incredibly satisfying Crozes. Blackcurrants, olive tapenade, truffles and earthy notes all emerge from this full-bodied, gorgeously textured and seamless 2015. With fine tannin and no hard edges, it can be drunk today or cellaring for 15-20 years.”

Description

Domaine de Thalabert, property of Paul Jaboulet Aîné since 1834, is the oldest vineyard in the Appellation. This estate of around 40 ha is located on lower pebbly terraces that are glacial in origin. It is located on pebbly and rocky terraces located between Tain l’Hermitage and Pont de l’Isere. These small, round pebbles store heat during the day and release it at night, providing optimum and regular maturity. The average age of the vine is from 40 to 60 year old. Some of the vines are 80+ year old.

THALABERT is now a flagship of Paul Jaboulet Aine portfolio, and of the Crozes Hermitage appellation.

The Crozes Hermitage vineyard is the largest of all the Northern Rhône Valley Appellations and extends over 11 communes situated in the Drôme, on the left bank of the Rhône. But not all Crozes-Hermitage were created equal! Domaine de THALABERT is always among the top rated wines of the appellation, at a very reasonable price, and capable of aging for decade(s). A clearly OVER-PERFORMING VALUE.

Just like all the Paul Jaboulet Aine Domaine wines, it is certified ORGANIC since the 2016 vintage, and now in Biodynamic conversion.
