Description
French oaked for layers of flavor, Maker’s 46 is the taste vision of Bill Samuels, Jr. Rich notes of caramel, vanilla and baking spice greet the palate along with a layered complexity. It’s the result of first-of-its-kind finishing, beginning with fully matured cask strength Maker’s Mark. Ten seared French oak staves are fitted into the barrel, and then the whisky is finished to maturity under ideal conditions in our limestone cellar. It took some doing. But Maker’s 46 is the realization of Bill Jr’s. taste vision.
The wood-finishing experiments were the vision of Bill Samuels, Jr. who worked alongside Master Distiller Kevin Smith and the Independent Stave Company, Maker’s longtime cooperage. After finally finding the taste they were after, Bill Jr. learned the perfectly toasted French Oak stave they used was on file with the Independent Stave Company as “Stave Profile No. 46”.
