“…aged in 30% new and 70% second-fill French oak; from vines in Altamira, La Consulta and Gualtallary): Full, bright ruby. More pristine on the nose than the Paraje Altamira Malbec, offering scents and flavors of blueberry, blackberry, cherry, crushed rock, bitter chocolate and violet. A step up in sweetness and pliancy as well and less wild, offering very good concentration and balance if not quite the energy of the wine from Paraje Altamira (even though this Malbec actually includes some even higher-altitude fruit). Finishes with good breadth, serious chewy tannins and subtle lingering sweetness. Turned a bit dry with aeration.” Stephen Tanzer
Luca is named after Laura’s son. The family crest (the McDermott family) that appears in the label’s background is that of Laura’s husband, Dan. Laura is continually inspired by the synthesis of cultures in her own family, and this international inspiration infuses the style and quality of her wines.
Spice and black cherry cola aromas with notes of cocoa. The berry flavors pop on the palate from its depth and lively acidity, finishing with hints of espresso.
