"Mezcal is the oldest spirit of Mexico. It dates back to the early 1500s when the Spanish Conquistadors applied fermentation and distillation techniques to the native drink, pulque. Tequila is mezcal’s younger brother. Technically, tequila is a kind of mezcal, one in which you can only use the blue agave, and that today is more of an industrial product. With tequila, typically the agaves are steam cooked in industrial autoclaves and the juice is distilled in large industrial stills. "Aged for 13 months in a combination of French and American oak. A gorgeous spirit rivaling the finest scotches, cognacs, and tequilas. Maple, clove, and bitter orange aromas. Dark chocolate and sweet agave on the palate. Hint of chile, rounded, full, rich. To be sipped and savored. " -The Importer
