Description
The clay-limestone soils of the Ribebon hamlet plateau (in the village of Pessac-sur-Dordogne on Bordeaux’s Right Bank) form the basis of Château de Ribebon Réserve Bordeaux Supérieur. Merlot crafts a sophisticated and elegant wine with delicate yet admirable structure and refined red berry aromas. Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (this last one from 80 year-old vines, compared to the other vines’ average age of 40 years) bring accents of ripe and supple fruit, with mineral undertones from the limestone supplying freshness. Aged for two years in barrels, this is a wine all about elegance and balance. Easy to enjoy on its own, it also pairs well with grilled meats and vegetables.
Wine Enthusiast 91 points – The wine, from one of the five Aubert family properties, is rich and full of great fruit. With ripe tannins and blackberry generosity over the wood aging, this is still structured yet ready to drink..September/2017
James Suckling 91 points – Lots of ripe-berry and currant character with licorice and graphite. Full-bodied, round and chewy with lots of fruit. It shows beautiful intensity on the finish for this appellation. Drink in 2020..February/2018
