Description
This wine is a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot Noir and 20% Pinot Meunier, resulting in a fine wine which is powerful but not aggressive, with an agreeable freshness, supple roundness on the palate and a clean and fruity finish.
It is aged a minimum of four years in the cellars before shipment (well over the legal minimum for Brut Champagne which is 18 months.
Pleasant, well-balanced, with a light golden color, this wine is very mature and ready to drink immediately. The bouquet has a hint of citrus, with flowers, and lemon peel. It is an “easy Champagne” you can have for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and all night long. Delicious as an aperitif, and equally delightful with a dessert.
Delamotte is a Champagne house more than 250 years old (it is the fifth oldest Champagne house) founded in Reims in 1760 by Francois Delamotte, a vineyard owner. Ownership of the house passed through the Delamotte family then to the Lanson family and finally was bought, along with sister house Champagne Salon, by the Laurent-Perrier group. The houses have been under the direction of Didier Depond in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger since 1988. A man of passion and compassion, he is continually developing the outstanding image of these two exceptional wines. The aesthetic, rigorous endeavour to always work better is a long lasting ideal of the House. One of the founding principles of the House of Delamotte (and of its sister company, Salon) is that Champagne is first and foremost a wine to be enjoyed and appreciated for its quality and authenticity. The wine should be – from the very start – subtle, profound, rich with the aromas and flavours which ultimately create outstanding Champagne.
