Description
Founded in 1989 and owned by eight families from the town of Añorbe. The winery is in the valley called Valdizarbe, sitting on the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains, which is the most northern region of the D.O. Navarra. Although the scenic Valley of Valdizarbe has always been considered one of the best areas of production in Navarra, and viticulture here is centuries-old proof of that are documents from the 15th century (found in Añorbe), viticulture was threaten and almost disappeared due to the depressed prices of the grapes and extreme weather conditions.
Bodegas Nekeas became one of the first wineries to bring back life to the wine making traditions of this valley.
