Description
Bibbiano is located in the historic Chianti region, in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti, overlooking the Elsa Valley towards the castle of Monteriggioni. Cultivation of grapes in this area originated with the Etruscans, continuing well into the late-Latin era.
Inspired by this incomparable natural and human heritage, our family, owner of Bibbiano since 1865, continues to lovingly cultivate the vineyards and olive groves following a vibrant and modern family business tradition. In fact, today’s owners, Tommaso and Federico Marrocchesi Marzi, are the fifth generation.
Surrounded by vast olive groves consisting of over three thousand trees, Bibbiano vineyards cover an overall area of about 25 hectares, at an altitude between 270 and 300 meters, distributed on the hillsides, with enviable exposure and excellent microclimate.
The vineyards consist of plants of red Sangiovese and Sangiovese Grosso grapes as well as a smaller quantity of Merlot and Colorino. The two slopes of Bibbiano, where the vineyards lay, offer different organoleptic characteristics.
