Ruffino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Lodola Nuova Riserva 2001
Ruffino Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Lodola Nuova Riserva 2001  Wine Advocate Issue #158 Apr 2005
Score: 89 points
"The 2001 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is not as concentrated in tonality as one might expect, but the nose is sweet and spicy, the palate of good force, intensity, and length, and the notes of leather and game add an attractive complexity to the close. Drink: 2005-2012." -Daniel Thomases

"90% Sangiovese, locally referred to as "Prugnolo Gentile", 10% Merlot from vineyards belonging to the Lodola Nuova estate, located near the small town of Valiano. The wine was refined in 35/60 hl French oak casks for approx. 30 months, followed by a refining period in the bottle for 6 months minimum."

"The full-bodied, imponent structure of this Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva gives an idea of its impressive ageing potential. Even though it is still very young, however, this wine is not agressive on the palate. The tannins are pleasantly sweet and the fruity notes give a very nice, round quality to the taste. The aromatic persistance is very long and characterised by sensations of plain chocolate, mature fruit and pot pourri." -The Winery
