"The whites start with the 2006 Chardonnay. Amazingly for a wine of this price, 75% of the blend was fermented and aged in new French oak for 10 months but did not undergo malolactic fermentation. Light gold-colored, it has a remarkably complex bouquet featuring toast and buttered popcorn intertwined with baked apple and poached pear. Supple-textured, flavorful and long in the finish, this Chardonnay is a steal for $12. Nugan Estate produces 550,000 cases of wine and has 519 hectares of estate fruit under vine. They are the 13th largest exporter of Australian wine. As this portfolio of wines attest, they continue to focus on quality from top to bottom." -Jay Miller
