Gemtree Shiraz Viognier Bloodstone 2007

"For the first time since making Bloodstone in 1993, we co-fermented 5% of Viognier to enhance the aromatics, sweetness and tannin profile of the wine. Bloodstone is open fermented for 10 days then gently pressed into French and American oak for 12 months.

"Purple color with black hue. Violets, marshmallow, dark chocolate, coffee, raspberry and red currants on the nose. The front palate exhibits juicy ripe red fruits with hints of dark cocoa and chocolate. The flavour profile builds from the front to the mid palate showing characters of red fleshy fruits, anise and liquorice, with a remarkable backbone of acidity. The finish shows fine persistent tannins with a hint of savoury/biscuity spice from the oak." -The Winery
