Chateau Greysac 2004

"Greysac's wine is more than ever before the expression of its outstanding soil : beautiful gravelly rises located in the hamlet of By. Winemaking is traditional, though all necessary modern equipment is available to provide a helping hand. The selection of wine to be sold under the Greysac name is very strict, rarely over 70% of total production. Even in difficult years, there is thus consistency in the quality of these wines. The characteristic style of Greysac is one of great aromatic finesse combined with good, full body. This complementarity produces wines with straightforward, clean flavours and sumptuous fruit which acquire elegance and complexity over time. Château Greysac also makes a dry white at Bégadan, where the vineyard, planted solely with Sauvignon vines in 1989, covers 2 hectares (5 acres). Vinification takes places exclusively in barrels (30% new) with ageing also in wood for 6 months, with regular stirring of the fine lees. The final result is an extremely pure wine with superb iris, honey, peach and apricot aromas, followed by subtle, slightly smoky notes.
