Mora's Fine Wine and Spirits :: Italy :: Italian, Red :: Castello Di Camigliano Rosso Di Montalcino 2005

Castello Di Camigliano Rosso Di Montalcino 2005
Castello Di Camigliano Rosso Di Montalcino 2005  88 Points, Wine Advocate: "Camigliano’s 2004 Rosso di Montalcino is a fresh, vinous effort with pretty notes of small red fruits and good length. Made in an accessible style, this tasty, medium-bodied wine should be enjoyed over the next few years." (Rating for Previous Vintage)

100% Sangiovese from the sandy, and marl clay soil of Montalcino, Tuscany. Aged 6 months in wood casks then 3-4 months in bottle. Ruby red color, aromas of ripe fruits, soft and well balanced, good-bodied. Ready for drinking from the release best drunk fairly young. Perfect with dressed pork products, mature cheeses and fairly strong flavored main courses.

Brunello is not Montalcino's sole entry in the field of premium wines. Previously appreciated and widely known under various denominations, the Rosso di Montalcino acquired a precise identity and official recognition with the issuance of the Denominazione di Origine Controllata in 1983. The community can now boast of having three denominations of origin:
Brunello, which requires extended aging; Rosso di Montalcino, a younger wine that combines a special vivacity and freshness with a superb structure, and the Moscadello di Montalcino, which
is sweetish and fizzy.
