44 Degrees Idaho Potato Vodka American Vodka
44 Degrees Idaho Potato Vodka American Vodka

This vodka is made using Idaho potatoes--what else!--made with Snake River aquifer water. This generally implies a creamy, earthy vodka highly prized by a vocal group of Vodka Martini drinkers. The 44 Degrees North brand was founded by Ken Wyatt and Ron Zier based in Rigby, Idaho and first became known for its huckleberry vodka but then branched out into other spirits. They lay claim to be the only vodka approved to bear the official State of Idaho seal. The vodka itself is produced by contract in Idaho's Distilled Resources.

"Not all Vodkas are created equal. Our hand-crafted vodka is made from locally grown corn and therefore it is gluten-free. Our custom distillation process allows us to create a great tasting vodka that brings out the subtleties of our recipe. And to make sure that Adirondack Vodka is of the highest possible quality, we crystal filter every batch we make with genuine Herkimer Diamonds." -The Distillery

Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka Pennsylvania
Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka Pennsylvania

5 Stars/Highest Recommendation! F. Paul Pacult's Spirit Journal, December 2010 "Overall very good clarity, with just a few floating tendrils seen. Wow, this aroma comes flying out of the glass in waves of white potato, starch, and parchment; seven more minutes of aeration don't greatly alter the aromatic profile, but there is a noticeable deepening of the established scents, especially the raw white potato element. Entry is nothing short of luscious, semisweet, chewy, and smooth; mid-palate adds cocoa bean, maple, adn honey. Aftertaste is graceful, solid, and simply delicious. The best small-scale vodka I've had since the Five Star 45th Parallel. So sumptous and tasty that it's spectacular tasted neat. Best non-Polish vodka available. BRAVO! AWESOME ACHIEVEMENT!" -F. Paul Pacult "The owners of Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka, Barry Young and C. Prentiss Orr, give new meaning to the phrase 'handmade by locals.' Produced from an original mash using locally-grown potatoes, this batch-distilled vodka is produced by hand; in other words, without the use of automated controls. As Still Master, Barry chooses the more expensive and labor-intensive route and only uses the 'heart of the run', which he cuts based on taste and experience. Named after the owners' fathers, each bottle of Boyd & Blair is signed by Barry and then filled, corked, and dipped in wax by hand." -Martin Scott Wines

Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka Profession Proof 151 Pennsylvania
Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka Profession Proof 151 Pennsylvania

"The Professional Proof 151 was designed to allow craft mixologists and consumers the ability to create their own house-made bitters, liquors and aged cocktails. Made from the same recipe as the Potato Vodka, 151 is concentrated almost 1.9 times. Professional Proof presents a similar vanilla-tinged flavor profile of Boyd & Blair's standard vodka. "Vodka 7000' is best enjoyed as a sipping vodka on the rocks or stirred into a very dry Martini. The natural vanilla flavor from the oats also pairs well with other mixers for your favorite vodka based cocktail." -The Distillery

91 Points! Beverage Testing Institute, September 2009
"Clear. Mild aromas of mashed figs and steel cut oats follow through round, supple entry to a dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body with touches of raisin and white clay. Finishes with a lively, peppery spice, talc, and oatmeal accented fade. A pleasant, tasty vodka with a very true oat and dried fruit character. Distinctive."
