Bodega la Emperatriz Finca la Emperatriz Rioja Crianza 2011 Red Spanish Wine 750 mL
Bodega la Emperatriz Finca la Emperatriz Rioja Crianza 2011 Red Spanish Wine 750 mL

91 points Wine Advocate April 2015:  2011 La Emperatriz Finca la Emperatriz Crianza:

"The 2011 Finca la Emperatriz Crianza has a forward personality, quite aromatic and open, with showy notes of smoky bacon that transported me to the Northern Rhône for a minute. It is, of course, mostly Tempranillo with 3% Garnacha and 2% white Viura from different plots in the estate fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and matured for 14 months in American (80%) and French oak barrels. The oak is really well integrated, with spices... The palate is serious, well-built and shows good density, structure and fine tannins. There are good, persistent flavors combining power and finesse... A truly impressive Crianza, growing by the vintage, and keeping a very sensible price tag... Very good value for the quality." -Luis Gutierrez

Caduceus Cellars Sancha Tempranillo Arizona Red Wine 750 mL
Caduceus Cellars Sancha Tempranillo Arizona Red Wine 750 mL
From the Winery:

100% Arizona Tempranillo from Cochise County.  Enjoy the long, lingering finish of this Rioja style wine.

Submerged cap fermentation gives both an intensity and a suppleness to the tannins here. Soulful and authentic, like a dish that begins with caramelized onions - a rustic, savory warmth. Leather, spice, chocolate, violets and sun-ripened figs, followed up by a strawberry or tomato sauce like tanginess. Add a cup of Rooibos tea to the mix and enjoy the long, lingering finish of this Rioja style wine.

Rated 92 points from Vinous Media January 2016:

"(carinena, syrah and garnacha; aged in French oak for 18 months): "Inky ruby. The highly perfumed nose displays black and blue fruits, licorice, vanilla and smoky oak. Supple and expansive in the mouth, offering intense cherry compote, blueberry and spicecake flavors and a hint of floral pastille. Finishes sweet, sappy and very long, with impressive vivacity and depth, slow-building tannins, spice and floral notes. This sexy wine was aged for 18 months in new French oak casks." - Josh Raynolds

Chateau de Manissy Cotes du Rhone 2014 Red Rhone Wine
Chateau de Manissy Cotes du Rhone 2014 Red Rhone Wine

Previous Vintage [2013] : 86 Points - Wine Enthusiast, February 2015 "Located in Tavel, Manissy is an organic producer whose red Côtes du Rhône is a blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Carignan and 15% Counoise. Whiffs of thyme and bay leaf accent slightly confected cherry fruit in this reasonably crisp, easy-to-drink wine. There’s not much tannin, so you might even try it slightly chilled." — J.C.

CVNE Cune Rioja Crianza 2012 Red Spanish Wine
CVNE Cune Rioja Crianza 2012 Red Spanish Wine

88-90 Points Wine Advocate April 2015 "A wine that is extremely popular in Spain is the 2012 Cune Crianza, the usual Tempranillo-based blend with 15% Garnacha Tinta and Mazuelo matured in oak barrels for one year. The nose starts with notes of creamy oak that soon give way to aromas of ripe berries, blackcurrants and plums that are quite spicy and showy (revealing hints from both American and French oak) with a fresh, herbal, raspberry leaf touch. The palate is light to medium-bodied, polished and soft, with unnoticeable tannins and very well-integrated oak. It is easy to drink and to understand by the wide audience. A very good commercial Rioja, it is approachable now, but will also keep. This is bottled in different lots as the market requires, and was about to be bottled when I tasted it. A whopping 4.5 million bottles of this wine are produced." - Luis Gutierrez

Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella 2009 Italian Red Wine 750 mL
Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella 2009 Italian Red Wine 750 mL

94+ Wine Advocate December 2014

"Built like a tank, the 2009 Valpolicella Superiore Monte Lodoletta is a masterful achievement. This wine shows so beautifully, especially in a warm but balanced vintage like 2009. The fruit is expressive and articulate with deep layers of blackberry preserves, dried cherry, dark chocolate, espresso bean, mesquite smoke and soy sauce. The mouthfeel is super rich and concentrated as the Dal Forno signature style would dictate. The tannic bite is still strong and this wine needs a few more years to stretch out its muscular build. I'd suggest drinking it after 2018." -Monica Larner

Dessimis Vie Di Romans 2014 Pinot Grigio Italian White Wine 750mL
Dessimis Vie Di Romans 2014 Pinot Grigio Italian White Wine 750mL

Previous Vintage [2013] rated 91 points from the Wine Advocate!

eRobertParker.com, #Interim - May 2016

"Here is another blockbuster from Vie di Romans. The 2013 Friuli Isonzo Pinot Grigio Dessimis is a lush and thickly concentrated effort with pristine aromas of pear, Golden Delicious apple, preserved lemon and acacia-infused honey. The wine is interesting from a textural point of view in that it offers good heft and complexity, although it never feels heavy or flat. It maintains a sense of brightness and energy all the while. This Pinot Grigio is fermented in stainless steel and aged in oak.

Gianfranco Gallo's Vie di Romans is one of the most accomplished, quality-minded estates in Italy. I am always impressed by their offerings and this selection from the 2013 vintage is outstanding. Chardonnay is presented in an unoaked version and in an oak-aged version. Both of these wines stand out thanks to the impossible creaminess and finesse they achieve. Drink: 2016-2022"

Domain Lafage Bastide Miraflors 2014 Cotes Catalanes Red French Wine 750mL
Domain Lafage Bastide Miraflors 2014 Cotes Catalanes Red French Wine 750mL

92 Wine Advocater eRobertParker.com - July 2015

"A steal from Lafage is the 2014 Bastide Miraflors, which is a Cotes du Roussillon, and a blend of 70% Syrah and 30% Grenache, with the Grenache aged in concrete tanks and the Syrah in 500-liter demi-muids. Lafage makes more expensive wines than this, but certainly excels with his value lineup. He has really hit a home run with this 10,000-case cuvée. It is deep, ruby/plum/purple, with fresh notes of blackcurrants, plums, Provençal herbs as well as licorice. Deep, medium to full-bodied, with amazing fruit, the purity, authenticity and Mediterranean upbringing of this wine are obvious. Quite deep, round and succulent, this wine should drink well for another several years. This is one to buy by the case." Robert M Parker Jr. This estate, which has created these custom cuvées with its importer Eric Solomon, has been on fire, producing gorgeous wines, whether they be white or red.
