93 Points Wine Advocate, Feb. 2015
The 7.5% alcohol 2013 Maximin Grünhäuser Abtsberg Riesling Spatlese offers a dark and flinty aroma on the nose. Rich and intense on the palate, this is a very juicy and piquant Spätlese whose mineral/salty finish imbibes the sweetness almost completely.
91 Points - Wine Spectator, February 2014 "This succulent white is filled with plush red peach, cherry and white currant flavors that are supported by zesty acidity. Long and creamy on the finish, offering plenty of spicy overtones. This is impressive for the category. Drink now through 2016. 100,000 cases made." -Kim Marcus
86 Points - Wine Spectator, March 2013 "A gauzy white, with peach pie and baked apple flavors that feature hints of candied basil and sage. Finishes with notes of quince compote. Drink now. 2,500 cases made." –Kim Marcus
Wine Advocate 91 points - The 2015 Erdener Treppchen Riesling Spatlese is very clear, lean and coolish on the stony flavored nose, where bright fruit and blue slate aromas are displayed. Intense and piquant on the palate, the Treppchen Spatlese is more reductive, thus leaner, and currently more closed compared to the generous Wurzgarten Spatlese. However, it is precise and mineral and will probably age as well as the Wurzgarten. The juicy, salty finish is clear and stimulating.Stephan Reinhardt, April/2017
"We have Christoffel Estate QbA in stock for the first time since the 2002 vintage. This is sourced from several young vine parcels in the Treppchen and Wurtzgarten and contains the elements of these two distinct terroirs - red oxidized slate and blue Devonian slate. This is feinherb style, a typical Mosel coolness and snappy acidity make it a perfect introduction to the 2012 vintage, from a famous and historic estate " The Importer
Joh. Jos. Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Kabinett Riesling
"Lustrous pale green-gold, this is immediately appealing. The nose is tantalising in its complexity, intense, ripe old vine fruit vying for dominance yet reigned in by mineral depth and refreshed by hints of white flowers. There is a real sense of luminosity and sunshine here on both nose and palate, the latter echoing the initial aromatics opulent, fragrant and controlled throughout. This is a truly lovely translation of the vintage, poised but generous and refreshingly light." - The Importer
89 Points - Wine Spectator, Web Only 2011 "Powerfully fruity, with notes of honey cream to the red peach, melon and golden raisin flavors that are lush and broad, with smoky notes on the finish. Drink now through 2025. 350 cases made." -Kim Marcus
"Very rich, with luscious notes of ripe apricot, peach and pear. Creamy notes in the midpalate extend into the long, rich and well-spiced finish. Drink now through 2035. 180 cases made." -Kim Marcus
"With a nose of fresh and pure orchard fruits, a mix of peach, raspberry and elderberry blossom, on the palate, there is a slight sweetness that freshens the taste buds. The mineral texture carries the perfect balance of residual sugar and vibrant, elegant fruit acid. It finishes with gentle, clean, dry, lingering structure. A very zesty, animating zip of Riesling." -The Importer
95 Wine Enthusiast April 2016
A standout among an excellent lineup of 2014 grosses gewächs from Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt, this gorgeously textured wine is as light as a feather, yet with a distinctly luscious cling. Dry but pentratingly fruity, it contrasts ripe peach and grapefruit flavors against laser-sharp edges of acidity and minerality. Drinks beautifully now but should continue to please well into the next decade.
