Domaine Anny Derain Givry 2015 French Red Wine 750 mL
Domaine Anny Derain Givry 2015 French Red Wine 750 mL

Domaine Annie Derain is a very small domaine whose parcels are located in the villages of Mercurey and Givry in the Côte Chalonnaise. This domaine has 0.75 hectares of Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise and 0.72 hectares of Givry and Givry 1er Cru.. Winemaking is a complementary activity for Annie Derain, who has retained some of her family’s vineyards.

THE WINES Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise: The vineyards, aged over 50 years and west-facing, grow on the limestone terrain of the village of Mercurey. The shallow soil at the bottom of the parcel is made up of fairly warm, gravelly earth, which is easy to work. Planted with Pinot Noir outside the Mercurey appellation area, it produces a fine, elegant Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise. Annual production is around 5,000 bottles, presented in "antique-style" Burgundy bottles.

Givry: The Givry vineyards are divided into two parcels on the slopes of the hamlet of Russilly in Givry. The soil is very gravelly, susceptible to erosion and conducive to low yields. The two parcels of Pinot Noir are 30 and 35 years old.

Domaine Daniel Rion and Fils Bourgogne 2014 Pinot Noir French Red Wine 750mL
Domaine Daniel Rion and Fils Bourgogne 2014 Pinot Noir French Red Wine 750mL

From the distributorThe vines are distributed on several parcels located in bottom of the hillside in Nuits Saint Georges. Gently sloping, on deep brown ground of silt and clays, with strong minerals and of 20 years average of age, they represent more than 2 hectares.

Daniel Rion’s Bourgogne presents with medium ruby hues, moderately crimson in its youth, then becoming orange ruby after a few years of aging in bottle. Cherry and blackcurrant flavors are apparent in its youth, after which appear notes of underbrush and forest floor, mixed with candied fruits.

Domaine Dubuet-Monthelie Bourgogne Les Gamets 2015 French Red Wine 750mL

Pascal Henry Bourgogne Pinot Noir French Red Wine 750mLThe Domaine: This small fifth-generation family-run domaine was just recently passed on to the youngest generation, with David Dubuet in charge. The name Monthélie comes from David's father's side of the family: his grandmother's maiden name was Monthélie, like the village and the appellation. That's where it all began, many decades ago, with vineyards in Monthelie, in both colors: Monthélie red Sous le Cellier and a rarer white: Monthélie white Les Combes Danay as well as with Meursault and Beaune. It is now an 8 hectare domaine, with vineyards in Auxey-Duresses, Savigny Les Beaune, and Pernand-Vergelesses. Their Bourgogne red, from a single vineyard is also worthy of this up-and-coming domaine.

"Produced by two members of one of Burgundy's grand families, this wine is fruity and soft. With a lightly toasty flavors, it's smooth and creamy, lit by lime-like acidity. Although young, it's likely to develop quickly. Drink from mid 2017." Roger Voss

It was in the small, but now world famous, village of Nuits St Georges, just South of Dijon, that the family began perpetuating the secrets and traditions of its production. The Dufouleur legacy spans the centuries from Gilles Dufouleur, born in 1596, to the present day. From father to son, successive generations of Dufouleurs have passed on a taste for perfection. The reputation of the company was built on the finesse and subtlety of its wines. It was in this same spirit that Symphorien Dufouleur founded the Merchant Trading house Doufouleur Père & Fils in 1848, making a success of the new venture despite the economic difficulties of the times. His eldest son Alexis Dufouleur inherited the company, developing the business and enlarging the Domaine holdings. By the end of his life Dufouleur wines had gained such a reputation that they were already being sold in the leading export markets of the day. -- Domaine Dufouleur site

Domaine Dujac Geverey Chambertin 1er Cru Aux Combottes 2014 French Red Burgundy Wine 750 mL

90-92 Wine Advocate December 2015

"The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru aux Combottes, which includes around 80% whole bunch fruit, has a fragrant, floral bouquet that opens wonderfully in the glass: mineral-tinged black fruit that is very delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine saline seam, quite Morey-Saint-Denis in style, a little foursquare on the finish. I like the precision here in this Gevrey-Combottes that is somewhat sturdy, but with impressive detail." Neal Martin

Vineyard Profile Aux Combottes is a 4.5 hectare/11.3 acre vinyard that is surrounded by two other vinyards: Latricieres to the north and Mazoyeres ou Charmes to the northeast and east.
