Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2010 Red Australian Wine 750 mL
Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2010 Red Australian Wine 750 mL

eRobertParker.com #215 Oct 2014 Lisa Perrotti-Brown Drink: 2022 - 2040

"The 2010 Grange is a 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 96% Shiraz blend made from Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Magill Estate fruit that was aged 17 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads. Very deep purple-black in color, this is classic Grange - amongst the finest produced - replete with fresh, vibrant and youthful black fruit notes showing some blueberry aromas and accents of camphor, anise and the slightest floral hint plus a whiff of oak in the background to lend a cedar-laced lift to this textbook Shiraz nose. Medium to full-bodied in the mouth, it is very taut and finely constructed showing typically firm, grainy, uniform tannins, great concentration and wonderful persistence on the finish. If I have any very slight complaint of this near perfect wine it is that it seems a little too clinical and appears to speak less of the land and the heart of South Australia and more of the very skilled winemaking than did the Grange from the magical 2008 vintage." -Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Plumpjack 2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa California Red Wine 750 mL

95 Points from Wine Advocate

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, is a beauty. Bigger-boned and framed than many 2014s, with more structure, this is classic Oakville material, with an opaque purple color and a big, sweet kiss of graphite, blackcurrants, Christmas fruitcake and spice box. Full-bodied and opulent, with moderate tannin, this is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next 20 or more years. This famed estate on the Oakville crossroads, which was once the Villa Mt. Eden winery, where Nils Venge made a succession of profound wines in the 1970s, is now owned by the Getty family and called Plumpjack. These are always among my favorite wines in Napa Valley, as they are consistently well-crafted and represent the best of the Oakville corridor.9;s a beauty." - Robert Parker, Dec. 2015

95 points Wine Advocate December 2016

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve To Kalon is a blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Deep ruby/purple-colored, notes of sweet crème de cassis, blackberry, charcoal and toast are present in the subtle but intense aromatics. The wine is full-bodied and classically crafted, building incrementally on the palate and displaying full-bodied richness, sweet tannin, and a potential to age for 25-30 + years. This is a beauty.

Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 1.5L California Red Wine

ONE 1.5 LITER bottle  in stock no discounts Rating: 100! Points (Robert Parker)  The Wine Advocate October 2014

"The perfect 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Screaming Eagle is composed of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Made in the classic, iconic Screaming Eagle style that the original proprietress, Jean Philipps, first showcased in the early 1990s, before the winery was sold to Stan Kroenke, the inky/purple-colored, seamless 2012 possesses an extraordinary set of aromatics consisting of pure blackcurrant liqueur, licorice, acacia flowers, graphite and a subtle hint of new oak. Full-bodied, opulent and voluptuous, this profound wine is as prodigious as I thought it would be last year when tasted from barrel. It should age effortlessly for 20 or more years. " -Robert Parker

It would be easy to criticize Screaming Eagle, the tiny boutique producer, with astronomical prices as well as quality. The vineyard, on the valley floor in the eastern Oakville corridor, sells off significant quantities of wine to others. Their production remains 700 to 1,000 cases, along with 500-800 cases of their second wine, Second Flight. There is something magical about this Oakville parcel on the valley floor just under the looming hillsides of such wineries as Phelps, Bacchus and Dalla Valle’s Maya, and across the street from the Rudd Estate, Plumpjack, etc. Different winemaking consultants, from Heidi Barrett, who was in charge when Screaming Eagle soared to prominence in the early nineties, to the present consultant, Michel Rolland, have maintained the remarkable consistency that makes this wine so special. Articulating that is the critic’s challenge, but there is a purity to the crème de cassis fruit that emerges from this vineyard. There is an aromatic intensity and penetration that is truly world-class, and there is incredible balance as well as complexity in these young wines.

Vinous Media- 98 Points

The 2015 Screaming Eagle is fabulous. Rich and ample on the palate, with soaring aromatics from the Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2015 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. Ripe red plum, pomegranate, mint, kirsch, lavender and sweet spice notes are beautifully delineated in the glass. In this tasting, the Cabernet-based Screaming Eagle is quite a bit more open and accessible than the Merlot-based The Flight. Even so, it will be years before the 2015 Screaming Eagle is ready to drink.

Wine Advocate- 98-100 Points

Blended of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon reveals a medium to deep garnet-purple color and nose of crushed blackberries, black cherries and wild blueberries with notions of fragrant earth, garrigue, lavender, Sichuan pepper and dried leaves. Medium-bodied with signature elegance and finesse, it’s the incredibly fine, oh-so-pixelated tannins that help to define the signature of this vineyard, beautifully supporting the elegant fruit, finishing with great poise. This is a very sensuous, pensive style and not for those seeking a full-on blockbuster but rather will greatly pleasure lovers of wines with quiet intensity and subtle depth. Note that this was a tank sample, due to be bottled within a week.

Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Southing 2014 MAGNUM 1.5L Red California Wine
Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Southing 2014 MAGNUM 1.5L Red California Wine

93 rating Wine Enthusiast This richer expression of Pinot Noir kicks off with vanilla and warm cherry sauce on the nose, along with a bit of caramel, enabling it to appeal to lovers of darker red wines. The sip delivers a great depth of berry fruit as well as elegant purple flowers. A chipped-slate minerality is further lifted by dried thyme and bay leaf, making for a hearty but balanced sip.

"Each year, our goal for Southing is to create the ideal marriage of complexity and elegance. The ever-changing nose of the 2014 Southing exhibits Montmorency cherry, baking spice and dried flowers. The fine tannins and minerality are enhanced by our estate vineyard’s characteristic cool climate acidity." - The Winery

"Moderately dark reddish purple color in the glass. Upon opening, oak-infused aromas and flavors combine with a fruit-charged core of dark cherry, blackberry, pomegranate and spice. The wine showed much less oak overlay when tasted the following day from a previously opened and re-corked bottle when the fruit became front and center. Boldly styled, with delicious fruit expression, supportive tannins, and integrated acidity. A masculine interpretation of Pinot Noir, yet not highly muscled, offering a soft, approachable tone, and a refreshingly juicy finish. Decant this beauty when you pull the cork. Score: 94." -PrinceofPinot.com Reviewed June 18, 2016

"A brooding and intense wine. The aromas begin with notes of cola and black currant, then a myriad of spices, dusty blueberry and a hint of tea leaves. Firm, mature tannins evidence of Ten’s ageability—are followed by a long, velvety finish." - The Winery

"Hailing from one of the appellation's most celebrated vineyards, this ever-so-slightly pink wine delivers high and tight aromas of pink grapefruit, bubblegum and yeast. The creamy fizz shows ripe nectarine at first, then alkalinity, lime zest and grapefruit pith show up to keep the party in order." - Matt Kettmann

Seavey Cabernet Sauvignon 1994 1.5L
Seavey Cabernet Sauvignon 1994 1.5L

Extremely Limited, No Discounts! 91 Points - Wine Advocate, December 1997 "The glories of this estate remain its Cabernet Sauvignons. After retasting the 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon, I was even more impressed. Made from low yields of approximately 2 tons of fruit per acre, from Seavey's east-facing hillside vineyards in the Conn Valley, the 1994 exhibits an opaque purple color, and an exuberant yet still young and unformed nose of spice, black fruits, and cedar. Full-bodied, with layers of dense, ripe fruit, this rich, full-bodied, moderately tannic wine should be at its best in 3-5 years. It will keep for two decades or more." -Robert Parker

Senorio de San Vicente Rioja 2009 Red Spanish Wine

93 Points - International Wine Cellar, September 2013 "(100% tempranillo peludo; aged for 20 months in new French and American oak): Bright purple. Heady, smoke- and spice-accented aromas of dark berries, incense, potpourri and vanilla. Round and seamless in the mouth, offering sweet blackberry and cassis flavors enlivened by a bracing note of minerality. Supple tannins give shape to the strikingly persistent finish, which leaves a sexy floral pastille note behind." –Josh Raynolds ALSO: 92 Points - Wine Advocate, December 2013 90 Points - Wine Spectator, September 2013
