Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2010 Red Australian Wine 750 mL
Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2010 Red Australian Wine 750 mL

eRobertParker.com #215 Oct 2014 Lisa Perrotti-Brown Drink: 2022 - 2040

"The 2010 Grange is a 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 96% Shiraz blend made from Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Magill Estate fruit that was aged 17 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads. Very deep purple-black in color, this is classic Grange - amongst the finest produced - replete with fresh, vibrant and youthful black fruit notes showing some blueberry aromas and accents of camphor, anise and the slightest floral hint plus a whiff of oak in the background to lend a cedar-laced lift to this textbook Shiraz nose. Medium to full-bodied in the mouth, it is very taut and finely constructed showing typically firm, grainy, uniform tannins, great concentration and wonderful persistence on the finish. If I have any very slight complaint of this near perfect wine it is that it seems a little too clinical and appears to speak less of the land and the heart of South Australia and more of the very skilled winemaking than did the Grange from the magical 2008 vintage." -Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Fonseca Porto Vintage Port 1992 Portuguese dessert wine 750 mL
Fonseca Porto Vintage Port 1992 Portuguese dessert wine 750 mL

Wine Advocate # 97 (Feb 1995) Rating: 97 points Drink 1995 - 2035 "Fonseca has scored in both the 1991 and 1992 vintages. The 1992 is a majestic young port that should ultimately rival, perhaps even surpass this house's most recent great efforts (1985, 1977, 1970, 1963). This colossal vintage port reveals a nearly opaque black/purple color, and an explosive nose of jammy black fruits, licorice, chocolate, and spices. Extremely full-bodied and unctuously-textured, this multi-layered, enormously-endowed port reveals a finish that lasts for over a minute. It is a magnificent port that will age well for 30-40 years." -Robert Parker

Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder 2007

99 Points - Wine Advocate, December 2009
"The nearly perfect, inky/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder boasts abundant aromas of blueberry pie, ink, violets, burning embers, and camphor. The staggeringly intense, provocatively complex aromatics are followed by a full-bodied wine with exquisite concentration as well as a stunningly pure texture. One of the most prodigious 2007 Cabernets I tasted, it should provide magical drinking in 5-6 years, and last for three decades or more. Jess Jackson, who has spawned some of California's most talented winemakers, has Chris Carpenter behind the success of these wines. These current releases are the strongest efforts from Lokoya since their 1997s, 2001s, and 2002s. Production ranges from a low 200 cases for the Diamond Mountain, to over 1,000 cases for the highest rated cuvee, the Mount Veeder. All these wines have indigenous yeast fermentations, are aged approximately 21 months in new French oak, and are bottled with minimal clarification. They are made from what is essentially the best fruit from the remarkable array of vineyards owned by Jess Jackson." -Robert Parker

Chateau de Valandraud St. Emilion Grand Cru 2000 Red Bordeaux Wine

93 Points - Wine Advocate, April 2003
"Jean-Luc Thunevin tends to be humble when he talks about his 2000, as if there were something wrong with it. Well, it is a spectacular wine, and having tasted it three times from bottle, I am in love with it. Dense purple-colored, with a glorious nose of espresso, cocoa, chocolate, plum, black currant, and cherry, offering a true smorgasbord of heavenly delights, this medium to full-bodied wine still shows some relatively firm tannin, but the low acidity, layered, multi-textured mouthfeel, and tremendous purity are hallmarks of the Thunevin winemaking style. However, this might be one Valandraud that actually needs 3-5 years of cellaring prior to drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2019." -Robert Parker

Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Westside Road Neighbors 2012 Red California Wine
Williams Selyem Pinot Noir Westside Road Neighbors 2012 Red California Wine
Extremely Limited, No discounts!

"This wine is crafted from the finest growers along Westside Road - Allen, Bacigalupi, Bucher, Rochioli Riverblock and the Williams Selyem Estate. The brilliant, red color is simply captivating. Floral notes of red rose and crushed rocks permeate the nose. The glass fills with red fruit driven by notes of cranberry, fresh strawberries and raspberries. With some air, deeper pitched aromas of Morello cherry penetrate the alluring aromatic profile. The nutmeg and allspice give way to a mineral-like finish, which is complemented by subtle vanilla flavors. The vivacious acids and long rich finish balance out this wine for cellar longevity." -The Winery

Maison Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2007 Red French Wine

90-93 Points - Burghound, January 2009
"As it almost always is chez Potel, here the nose is deeper and more serious with obvious earth and game notes that add depth to the red and dark berry fruit aromas that merge into delicious, round and distinctly masculine and powerful flavors that are punchy, long and while not rustic, certainly robust. Despite the muscled quality, this is not an especially big Bonnes Mares by the standards of this grand cru though it is certainly focused and intense. Drink 2015+." -Allen Meadows

"Bright ruby. Heady, expansive bouquet of raspberry compote, cherry-vanilla and gingerbread, with notes of white pepper and licorice in the background. Smooth and fleshy in the mouth, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and nuances of candied flowers and herbs. Pretty hefty but by no means thick--in fact this is pretty lithe. Finishes with very good clarity and smoky, floral persistence." -Josh Raynolds

"This unique site seems to be expressing more fruit-driven characteristics as these vines mature. The aromas of Rainier cherries, fennel, cardamom, earth and minerals dominate the bouquet entirely in this vintage. The concentrated flavors of wild berries, cola, minerals and fresh cardamom are complemented by the lingering tannin and long finish. As this vineyard continues to mature it is showing the true idiom of this unique site." -Winemaker Bob Cabral

93 Points - International Wine Cellar, May/June 2011
"Bright red. Highly expressive, floral aromas of strawberry, raspberry, potpourri and Asian spices. Vibrant and spicy on entry, then gains heft and depth in the mid-palate, offering smoky red berry and musky floral flavors and excellent tangy lift. Benefits enormously from aeration, showing excellent clarity on the long, spicy finish. I'd bet on this aging slowly and gracefully." -Josh Raynolds

"Very similar to the 2003 vintage with aromas of raspberry, black cherries, sage, roasted vanilla beans and cappuccino. The smallish crop on the Sonoma Coast in 2009 concentrated the supple tannins and fills your mouth with flavors of wild berries, citrus zest, dark chocolate, sweet spices and mineral. An extremely expressive and rich wine that will develop well with time." -Winemaker Bob Cabral

93 Points - International Wine Cellar, May/June 2011
"Glass-staining ruby. Seductively scented, expansive bouquet of smoky blackberry, boysenberry and resinous herbs. Cola and vanilla qualities gain power with aeration and carry onto the palate, which features sappy dark berry and candied cherry flavors. Tannins build slowly with air but not at the expense of the densely packed fruit. Impressively juicy and concentrated pinot with outstanding thrust and cling. As much as I admire the power and depth of this wine, I have a slight preference for the litheness of the Hirsch right now. It would be a treat to be able to compare them down the road." -Josh Raynolds
