Alto Moncayo Aquilon 2013 Garnacha Spanish Red Wine 750 mL

rated 94 Vinous Media December 2015 drink 2021-2027

"(aged in new French and American oak barrels for two years) Inky purple. Explosive spice- and smoke-accented aromas of ripe dark fruits, potpourri and candied licorice, with a zesty white pepper quality emerging as the wine opens up. Sweet, expansive and round on the palate, offering intense, mineral-laced blackberry and violet pastille flavors and repeating smokiness. Utterly stains the palate and shows noteworthy power and lift on the strikingly long finish, with building tannins adding shape and grip. There are only 200 cases of this elegant bruiser, which is made from a selection of the estate's oldest vines, most of which were planted over 100 years ago." -- Josh Raynolds

94 Points - International Wine Cellar, September 12
"(made from a blend of 70% cabernet sauvignon and 30% monastrall; 15.5% alcohol): Inky purple.  Dark berry preserves, cola, smoky oak and sandalwood on the intensely scented nose.  Weighty and broad, with unlikely vivacity to its ripe blueberry and cherry compote flavors.  Toasty, sweet and velvety in texture, with superb finishing thrust and persistent sweetness.  This exotic, velour-like wine gains spiciness and floral character with air, and shows a suave blend of fruit and tannins; it should be even better with a few years of bottle age. 94(+?) points" -Josh Raynolds

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast, November 2012
"Dense, cool and masculine on the nose, this has aromas of prune, cola, tobacco, cheese and leather. It feels silky and soft, showing maximum ripeness and excellent balance. It tastes of ripe berry, stewed plum, spice and tobacco. Complex and classy on the finish; drink now–2017." -Michael Schachner

Rating for 2012 vintage 94 points VM Jan 2016 (raised in a combination of new French and American oak barrels for two years): Opaque purple. The highly expressive bouquet evokes black and blue fruit preserves, pipe tobacco, candied licorice, vanilla and smoky Indian spices. Lush and creamy in texture, with palate-coating cassis and cherry-vanilla flavors that are enlivened by juicy acidity and zesty minerality.

"Concentrated yet balanced, this rich, modern red is dense and fleshy, with muscular tannins and balsamic acidity supporting the thick texture. Ripe and heady flavors of blackberry, kirsch, currant, anise and dark chocolate mingle. Best from 2018 through 2028. 400 cases made." –TM

Rated 94 Points from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:

eRobertParker.com, #225 June, 2016

"The top of the range 2013 El Nido boasts a whopping 16% alcohol with lowish acidity. The blend is reversed from its sibling Clio, in this case mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with some 30% Monastrell, and similarly finishes its fermentation in barrique where it undergoes malolactic and 23 months aging. The nose is dominated by ripe black fruit and plenty of spices and smoky notes from the oak, but does not show any herbal aromas so often found in Cabernet. The creamy oak seems to be more present with time in the glass, and I think it is still very young. The Cabernet can ripen nicely in Jumilla, in fact you have to be careful not to go over the limit. The palate is full-bodied, with dense sweet fruit and plenty of dusty tannins, with nice balance in an XL way. It has a lot of everything and it should develop nicely in bottle. This is a particular style, for the fans of soft, ripe and generously-oaked reds, very good in its style. Better to leave it in bottle for a while and enjoy with powerful food. 6,000 bottles produced and bottled in September 2015. Drink 2017-2023. "

"The 2011 Edición Limitada (or Limited Edition, you have both on the label) is a blend of Tempranillo with 12% Graciano and 8% Mazuelo aged for 15 months in barrels. With a core of black fruit aromas, it has plenty of balsamic and oak-driven notes highlighted by smoke, vanilla, clove and dill. The palate is medium to full-bodied with surprising acidity that seems to need a bit of time to integrate. 37,500 bottles." -Luis Gutierrez

Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne 2011 White Burgundy Wine

Extremely Limited!

93 points Neal Martin Wine Advocate Special Interim Report November 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Bonneau du Martray’s Corton-Charlemagne 2011 has a mineral-driven bouquet – linear and taut, with slate and granite aromas gradually unfurling in the glass. The palate is clean and fresh with supremely well-judged acidity. Touches of apricot and mango lie in the background with the citrus element playing the main role. Beautifully balanced, this is the Corton-Charlemagne of the flight with impressive tension and persistence.

Cade Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 2013 Napa Valley California Red Wine 750mL

92 Points from Wine Advocate! eRobertParker.com, #222 December, 2015

"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon (77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec and 15% Petit Verdot, tipping the scales at 15.1% alcohol) has an inky purple color, a beautiful nose of blueberry and blackberry fruit, licorice and spring flowers. It is complex, rich, full-bodied, opulent, sexy and lush. This is a 2013 to drink now, as well as cellar for 10-15+ years. Drink 2016-2031."

Rated 93 Points from Vinous Media! October, 2015

"The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is deep, plush and inviting, with a rush of fruit that takes hold of all the senses. Voluptuous and super-expressive, the 2013 is sure to find many fans. Inky blue and purplish fruit, spices, mint and white pepper are all laced together in a sumptuous, inviting wine. Mocha, plum and blueberry jam are some of the notes that grace the supple, open-knit finish. This is an especially accessible Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, but I doubt there will be too many complaints about that. Drink 2017-2028." - Antonio Galloni

Rated 92 Points from Wine Spectator! Online only, 2016

"Though firm and dense, this is charming and agreeable already, with dried dark berry, sage and cedary oak flavors folding together. Appealing suppleness. Drink now through 2028. 6,558 cases made." -JL

#189 June 2010 Drink: 2010 - 2025 "A great sleeper of the vintage, this fully mature wine, made by Helene Garcin, has loads of deep raspberry and black cherry fruit with hints of licorice, toasty oak, and spice box. It is plush, succulent, and hedonistic, yet at the same time complex. I loved their 1998, and this wine seems to have turned out just as well. It has reached full maturity, where it should stay for at least a 10 to 15-year period." Robert M. Parker Jr.
