Verite La Joie 2007 Red California Wine
Verite La Joie 2007 Red California Wine
100 Points - Wine Advocate, June 2011
"Composed of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec, the 2007's fruit came from four sources, Alexander Valley Mountain Estate, Knight's Valley, Chalk Hill and Bennett Valley. This utterly perfect, flawless wine reveals great intensity along with a wonderful perfume of roasted coffee, blueberries, blackberries, spring flowers, forest floor and crushed rock. Full-bodied and viscous without being heavy, the wine possesses admirable precision as well as good acidity and balance. This stunning wine is developing beautifully. It contains 14.4% alcohol (one of the highest amounts) and a final pH of 3.64. It should last another 30 years." -Robert M. Parker, Jr.

Verite Le Desir 2007 Red California Wine
Verite Le Desir 2007 Red California Wine
100 Points - Wine Advocate, June 2011
"A profound blend of 44% Cabernet Franc, 44% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Malbec, with 56% of the fruit from Chalk Hill, 26% from the Alexander Valley Mountain Estate, 14% from Knight's Valley and 4% from Bennett Valley, the 2007 is a wine of unbelievable intensity. It boasts a deep blue/purple color as well as notes of acacia flowers, graphite, licorice, blackberries, blueberries and a hint of burning embers/charcoal, superb intensity and purity, and abundant tannin in the finish. This massive wine needs 5-6 more years of bottle age, and is meant for 35-40 years of cellaring." -Robert M. Parker, Jr.

William Selyem Pinot Noir Eastside Road Neighbors Vineyard 2015
William Selyem Pinot Noir Eastside Road Neighbors Vineyard 2015
Winemaker’s Notes
Notes of freshly picked summer fruits of blackberry, strawberry, and dark cherry mingle with savory elements of fennel, anise, and clove-studded orange peel. Voluptuous at the front of the palate, the wine seems to envelope and saturate the taste buds. Flavors of dark fruits are counterpointed with notes of English breakfast tea. For as voluminous as the wine feels, there is graceful acid lift on the finish that carries a wonderful mineral sensation. A tremendous vintage for the Eastside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir.

The Vineyard
The Pinot Noir for this blend was sourced from five unique sites along Eastside Road: Foss Vineyard, Calegari Vineyard, MacGregor Estate Vineyard, and Lone Oak Vineyards.

Harvest 2015
The 2015 vintage continues the hit parade of great quality vintages of the last four years. The season started under extreme drought conditions for the 4th consecutive season despite a wet early winter. January was very dry and warm and brought bud break earlier than expected by about 12 days compared to 2014. The rains returned in early February and dramatically slowed down the growth of the plants. May temperatures were some of the coldest on record and negatively impacted flowering and therefore fruit set. It was common for clusters to have millerandage, or a “hens and chicks” (big berry, little berry) phenotype, great for wine quality but severely limited yields. By the end of July the heat returned and, coupled with limited fog intrusion, the ripening process sped along quickly. In fact, harvest started on the last day of July…the earliest on record in the 36 vintages at Williams Selyem! Despite an auspicious start and a dramatic finish to the season, the 2015 wines may surpass some of the great recent vintages as they are bold and yet maintain their trueness to site. With superb color, structure and acidity, the wines have staying power, but with the wonderful texture and richness that are expressed today, who can resist them now?

William Selyem Pinot Noir Foss Vineyard 2015
William Selyem Pinot Noir Foss Vineyard 2015
Winemaker Notes
Beautifully dense in color. The aromatic profile is power packed with notes of a fruit bowl chock-full of dark fruits, such as blueberry and boysenberry. A top note of dried flowers adds a wonderful surprise and seems to counterpoint the denseness of the nose. Saddle leather and cigar box further the complex the brooding nature of this wine. Flavors of Bing cherry immediately transition to blond tobacco and Mocha Java coffee bean notes. The finish is round and supple with a tenacious sappy cling.

The Vineyard
The Foss Vineyard sits above Eastside Road in the Middle Reach region of the Russian River Valley. With a fine, clay loam soil type and a temperate microclimate, this site is extremely well drained and therefore an excellent site for Pinot Noir. Planted to Pommard, Swan, Mt. Eden, and 667 clones, together they offer a rich and complex palette to draw from in blending this incredibly rich and complex wine.

William Selyem Pinot Noir Rochioli Riverblock Vineyard 2013
William Selyem Pinot Noir Rochioli Riverblock Vineyard 2013
Winemaker’s Notes
Dark cherry notes lead from the glass and are leavened by hints of dried thyme and mandarin orange juice. The power-packed palate reveals this wines true heritage and breed. There is an immediate lift of raspberry on the entry and then the fine, expressive tannins unfold and saturate the palate. Wood spices and a prominent finish of clove and Russian caravan tea round out the wine… a superb Rochioli Riverblock Pinot Noir, which will require a bit of patience.

The Vineyard
Rochioli Riverblock Vineyard is located six miles southwest of the town of Healdsburg, banking the Russian River. Fog-cooled evenings and moderately warm daytime temperatures make the Russian River Valley region ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.

Harvest 2013
With great back-to-back vintages, 2013 was every bit as good as 2012 has proven to be. Amidst concerns about another drought year, the rain gauges filled up to about 80% of the yearly average. The growing conditions were very favorable, which resulted in a remarkably similar growing season to the exceptional 2012 vintage. The only notable difference, however, was the increase of heat units in 2013, as measured by the Growing Degree Day index. With below average rainfall for the season bud break initiated earlier than average along Westside Road. April showers helped to drive good shoot growth and set the plants up for May flowering. Excellent weather at flowering time allowed for fantastic set and a bountiful yield across all appellations and varieties. Even with an earlier start to the growing season, the grapes had the ideal amount of time on the vine to achieve full maturity without any threat of inclement weather late in the season. Wines from the 2013 vintage exhibit extremely pure and polished tannins and the acidity will provide longevity, but the supple structure also offers earlier enjoyment.

William Selyem Pinot Noir Vista Verde Vineyard 2015
William Selyem Pinot Noir Vista Verde Vineyard 2015
Winemaker Notes
The 2015 Vista Verde Vineyard Pinot Noir captures your attention immediately. Nosing the wine, pure cherry and berry aromas jump from the glass. Subtle notes of blood orange and mulling spices add a layer of complexity to the dazzling aromatics. In the mouth, the wine explodes with berry fruits, and expands across the palate with the signature chalky, mineral profile. Brazilian coffee notes punctuate this wonderfully expansive wine.

The Vineyard
Vista Verde Vineyard is located a couple miles southeast of Hollister, California, near the small town of Tres Pinos in San Benito County. This heavy limestone vineyard is separated into blocks that include clones such as Calera, Canada, and Pommard.

William Selyem Pinot Noir Weir Vineyard 2015 750mL
William Selyem Pinot Noir Weir Vineyard 2015 750mL
Winemaker Notes
The beautifully pure nose of red currant, citrus, and red cherry mix with a deft touch of vanilla and wood spices. There is a savory note of dried sage and smoky minerals. Weir Vineyard Pinot Noir is all about the earthier side of Pinot and continues to develop with even a few years of bottle age. On the palate, there is a sense of sappiness with red fruit flavors, and finishes with a lively citrus peel lift. The minerally texture is sophisticated and persists all the way to the long, graceful finish.

The Vineyard
The Weir Vineyard is located near Yorkville in Mendocino County. Fifteen acres are planted on a south-facing slope of a steep old sheep ranch. The altitude is just under 1,000 feet, and the climate is classic warm days and cool nights. Weir Vineyard is planted with clones Romanee-Conti, Wadenswil 2-A, and Rochioli. The vines are cane pruned with vertical shoot positioning, and plant density of 1,000 vines per acre.

Williams Selyem Calegari Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014 Red California Wine 750 mL

93 Vinous Media August 2016

"Black cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco and licorice are all pushed front and center in the 2014 Pinot Noir Calegari Vineyard. Dark, powerful and dense, the 2014 offers notable depth and richness. Even so, there is an unrestrained wildness to the 2014 that is only likely to become more prominent with the passage of time. The virile tannins could use another year or two in bottle to soften. This is one of the more eccentric wines in the range, yet all the elements are nicely balanced throughout. The Calegari also feels like the ripest wine in the range." -Antonio Galloni

Williams-Selyem Winery Pinot Noir Allen Vineyard Russian River Valley Bright ruby.

Black raspberry, cherry-cola and fresh flowers on the highly perfumed nose. Fleshy, nicely concentrated red fruit preserve flavors are braced by gentle acidity and complicated by a candied floral quality. Becomes weightier in the glass while maintaining its vibrancy, finishing sweet and long, with persistent florality. Very sexy already but this pinot is balanced to reward at least mid-term aging.
