"Hold on to your hat. This is the best Fonseca since 1977, and it's probably even better than that classic vintage--more like the breathtaking 1948. Mind-blowing, with masses of color, aroma and fruit flavor. Smells like fermenting berries, boasting loads of crushed grape, violet and berry character. Big, full-bodied and very sweet, with tons of tannins and a sweet finish. Tannic and huge, it's a long-term, great Port. Best after 2012. 8,000 cases made." -James Suckling

97 Points - Wine Advocate, October 1996
"One of the most spectacular 1994s, this opaque purple-colored wine is an exotic, flamboyant, ostentatious port. Extremely fragrant and pungent, with a flashy display of jammy cassis, pepper, licorice, and truffles, this port is an attention-grabber. Awesomely rich, and full-bodied, with superb length, richness, and overall balance, it possesses a huge mid-palate, layers of flavor, an unctuous texture, and a blockbuster finish. Everything is in place, with the brandy and tannin well-integrated, even concealed by the masses of fruit and glycerin. This wine will drink fabulously well at age ten, but keep for up to thirty years. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2035." -Robert Parker

Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder 2007
Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Mount Veeder 2007
Extremely Limited! No Discounts!

99 Points - Wine Advocate, December 2009
"The nearly perfect, inky/purple-colored 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Mt. Veeder boasts abundant aromas of blueberry pie, ink, violets, burning embers, and camphor. The staggeringly intense, provocatively complex aromatics are followed by a full-bodied wine with exquisite concentration as well as a stunningly pure texture. One of the most prodigious 2007 Cabernets I tasted, it should provide magical drinking in 5-6 years, and last for three decades or more. Jess Jackson, who has spawned some of California's most talented winemakers, has Chris Carpenter behind the success of these wines. These current releases are the strongest efforts from Lokoya since their 1997s, 2001s, and 2002s. Production ranges from a low 200 cases for the Diamond Mountain, to over 1,000 cases for the highest rated cuvee, the Mount Veeder. All these wines have indigenous yeast fermentations, are aged approximately 21 months in new French oak, and are bottled with minimal clarification. They are made from what is essentially the best fruit from the remarkable array of vineyards owned by Jess Jackson." -Robert Parker

Maison Nicolas Potel Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2007 Red French Wine
Extremely Limited!

90-93 Points - Burghound, January 2009
"As it almost always is chez Potel, here the nose is deeper and more serious with obvious earth and game notes that add depth to the red and dark berry fruit aromas that merge into delicious, round and distinctly masculine and powerful flavors that are punchy, long and while not rustic, certainly robust. Despite the muscled quality, this is not an especially big Bonnes Mares by the standards of this grand cru though it is certainly focused and intense. Drink 2015+." -Allen Meadows

"(88% grenache, 9% shiraz and 3% graciano): Opaque ruby. Assertively perfumed scents of raspberry liqueur, cherry pit, licorice and woodsmoke, with a subtle hint of white pepper adding lift. Sappy and expansive on the palate, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors that put on weight with air. The broad, smoky finish shows resonating spiciness, supple tannins and a whiplash of sweet dark berry fruit." - Josh Raynolds

Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2010 Red Australian Wine 750 mL
Penfolds Grange Bin 95 Shiraz 2010 Red Australian Wine 750 mL

eRobertParker.com #215 Oct 2014 Lisa Perrotti-Brown Drink: 2022 - 2040

"The 2010 Grange is a 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and 96% Shiraz blend made from Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Adelaide Hills, McLaren Vale and Magill Estate fruit that was aged 17 months in 100% new American oak hogsheads. Very deep purple-black in color, this is classic Grange - amongst the finest produced - replete with fresh, vibrant and youthful black fruit notes showing some blueberry aromas and accents of camphor, anise and the slightest floral hint plus a whiff of oak in the background to lend a cedar-laced lift to this textbook Shiraz nose. Medium to full-bodied in the mouth, it is very taut and finely constructed showing typically firm, grainy, uniform tannins, great concentration and wonderful persistence on the finish. If I have any very slight complaint of this near perfect wine it is that it seems a little too clinical and appears to speak less of the land and the heart of South Australia and more of the very skilled winemaking than did the Grange from the magical 2008 vintage." -Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Plumpjack 2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa California Red Wine 750 mL
Plumpjack 2014 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa California Red Wine 750 mL

95 Points from Wine Advocate

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, which is a blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, is a beauty. Bigger-boned and framed than many 2014s, with more structure, this is classic Oakville material, with an opaque purple color and a big, sweet kiss of graphite, blackcurrants, Christmas fruitcake and spice box. Full-bodied and opulent, with moderate tannin, this is a gorgeous wine to drink now and over the next 20 or more years. This famed estate on the Oakville crossroads, which was once the Villa Mt. Eden winery, where Nils Venge made a succession of profound wines in the 1970s, is now owned by the Getty family and called Plumpjack. These are always among my favorite wines in Napa Valley, as they are consistently well-crafted and represent the best of the Oakville corridor.9;s a beauty." - Robert Parker, Dec. 2015

Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 1.5L California Red Wine
Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 1.5L California Red Wine

ONE 1.5 LITER bottle  in stock no discounts Rating: 100! Points (Robert Parker)  The Wine Advocate October 2014

"The perfect 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Screaming Eagle is composed of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. Made in the classic, iconic Screaming Eagle style that the original proprietress, Jean Philipps, first showcased in the early 1990s, before the winery was sold to Stan Kroenke, the inky/purple-colored, seamless 2012 possesses an extraordinary set of aromatics consisting of pure blackcurrant liqueur, licorice, acacia flowers, graphite and a subtle hint of new oak. Full-bodied, opulent and voluptuous, this profound wine is as prodigious as I thought it would be last year when tasted from barrel. It should age effortlessly for 20 or more years. " -Robert Parker

It would be easy to criticize Screaming Eagle, the tiny boutique producer, with astronomical prices as well as quality. The vineyard, on the valley floor in the eastern Oakville corridor, sells off significant quantities of wine to others. Their production remains 700 to 1,000 cases, along with 500-800 cases of their second wine, Second Flight. There is something magical about this Oakville parcel on the valley floor just under the looming hillsides of such wineries as Phelps, Bacchus and Dalla Valle’s Maya, and across the street from the Rudd Estate, Plumpjack, etc. Different winemaking consultants, from Heidi Barrett, who was in charge when Screaming Eagle soared to prominence in the early nineties, to the present consultant, Michel Rolland, have maintained the remarkable consistency that makes this wine so special. Articulating that is the critic’s challenge, but there is a purity to the crème de cassis fruit that emerges from this vineyard. There is an aromatic intensity and penetration that is truly world-class, and there is incredible balance as well as complexity in these young wines.

Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Southing 2014 MAGNUM 1.5L Red California Wine
Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Southing 2014 MAGNUM 1.5L Red California Wine

93 rating Wine Enthusiast This richer expression of Pinot Noir kicks off with vanilla and warm cherry sauce on the nose, along with a bit of caramel, enabling it to appeal to lovers of darker red wines. The sip delivers a great depth of berry fruit as well as elegant purple flowers. A chipped-slate minerality is further lifted by dried thyme and bay leaf, making for a hearty but balanced sip.

"Each year, our goal for Southing is to create the ideal marriage of complexity and elegance. The ever-changing nose of the 2014 Southing exhibits Montmorency cherry, baking spice and dried flowers. The fine tannins and minerality are enhanced by our estate vineyard’s characteristic cool climate acidity." - The Winery
