Bisci Verdicchio di Matelica Fogliano 2008
91 Points - Wine Advocate, June 2011
"The 2008 Verdicchio di Matelica Vigneto Fogliano is a bold, intense wine graced with exquisite nuance and complexity. Mint, flowers, sage, rosemary and crushed rocks come together beautifully in this textured, polished Verdicchio. This is another winner from Bisci. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2018. Bisci is an excellent source for fine Verdicchio that redefines the heights this indigenous variety is capable of reaching. Once again I was blown away by the quality of the wines I tasted. I can't recommend these two Verdicchios highly enough." -Antonio Galloni

"The Fogliano comes from a single cru of the same name in the noble Verdicchio di Matelica region of Le Marche. Soils here are dominated by clay and enjoy perfect southern exposure. Many of the wines are nearly 40 years old. The perfect interplay of richness, bright acidity and minerality is very reminiscent of that found in great dry Riesling." -The Importer
