Boxhead Shiraz McLaren Vale 2011 Red Austrailian Wine
Boxhead Shiraz McLaren Vale 2011 Red Austrailian Wine

"This comes from three vineyards, one in Kangarilla, one in Mclaren Flat and one in Sellicks Beach. All parcels were crushed, destemmed and left on skins for approximately 10 days during primary ferment. The parcels were then pressed and kept separate for malolactic fermentation. A portion underwent malolactic fermentation and maturation in new and one year old French barriques to add complexity. This has notes of ripe cassis and warm blackberries over hints of coffee, tar and licorice. Medium-full bodied, crisp and with a medium level of chewy tannins, it finishes with good persistence giving lingering licorice notes." -The Importer

Clonakilla Shiraz HillTops Australian Red Wine 750 mL
Clonakilla Shiraz HillTops Australian Red Wine 750 mL

This Shiraz is made from grapes selected from five vineyards in the Hilltops District around Young on the South Western slopes of New South Wales. There is plenty of spicy, dark fruit power here. Five to ten years in the cellar would do it no harm at all.

"Medium garnet in color, the 2010 d’Arry’s Original Shiraz Grenache fills the glass with aromas of blackberry preserves, kirsch and dried mulberries highlighted by nuances of baking spices, damp earth and white pepper. Medium-bodied with a good amount of expressive red and black fruit flavors complemented by earth and spice hints, it has just enough rounded tannins and lively acid to finish with good length. d'Arenberg Derelict Vineyards Red Austrailian Wine
d'Arenberg Derelict Vineyards Red Austrailian Wine

It is a black wine with a great purple hue. Intense, young, purple fruits and flowers combine with meat, earth and fresh bitumen to yield an intense, extremely inviting aroma. The palate starts with a huge flavor. Thick, ripe mulberries, blackberries and blueberries progress into a rich, gutsy, licorice and bitumen palate, followed by masses of powerful, youthful, gritty fruit tannins, layered with tons of flowery, cranberry and dark fruit flavors, and a youthful acidity. This is a wine of intense concentration.

d'Arenberg Shiraz The Footbolt McLaren Vale 2008 Red Austrailian Wine
d'Arenberg Shiraz The Footbolt McLaren Vale 2008 Red Austrailian Wine
"The nose is lifted, floral and pretty with red fruit, violets, a dusty earthiness and a subtle new leather character coming through as the wine opens up. The palate is juicy, but restrained and medium bodied. Plums, blackcurrant, cherries and raspberry build to a peppery back palate with an underlying and appealing touch of nutmeg. The chewy tannins are well balanced and its all tied together with lively acidity. Decanting this wine is recommended, especially when young to allow it to open up. It will age well for at least a decade if cellared correctly." -The Winery
