This Father’s Day, Get Dad What He Really Wants.

At our FREE Monthly Spirits Tasting on June 15 from 4-7.

“Dad, this rum is as old as you!” Well, not quite, but it is pretty old. (Just like dad! Just kidding. Don’t tell him we said that).

This is Gosling’s family reserve recipe – the ultimate sipping rum, reminiscent of a fine Scotch or cognac. Enjoy its luscious, complex flavor while enjoying dad’s company.

These bottles are hand-packaged with care – definitely a great gift.

See the rest of our whiskey deals below!
Have you ever tasted a rum that’s rated a whopping NINETY SIX POINTS? Seriously, a sip of this is worth the price of admission (and in case you’ve missed it, the price of admission is FREE).

It’s hard to overstate how awesome this rum is. Dark amber with a medium body, it’s not a rough-and-tumble pirate rum – quite the opposite! We love its smooth, round taste and elegant finish.

And it’s on sale for under $20? Seriously. Best Father’s Day gift ever.

Jefferson’s is great for the dad who’s a bourbon enthusiast but also for the dad who’s just getting into bourbon (what’s taken him so long?!).

For this whiskey, Jefferson’s takes four straight bourbons of different ages and marries them together, meaning layers and layers of delicious flavors.

How to become dad’s favorite kid: get him a bourbon that was AGED ON A BOAT. You can’t get a cooler gift than that.

Jefferson’s Ocean Bourbon is packed into barrels, brought onto a ship, and rocked gently by the waves as it travels five continents.

This dark, rich, and complex whiskey sells out quickly – we’re lucky to have a few bottles, so snag yours now!

This elegant Irish whiskey is a great gift for the dad who wants to try something different.

With clean, bright citrus on the nose, it has malty, vanilla flavors. Well-balanced and slightly sweet, it’s a kinder, gentler Irish whiskey.

Whisky Wednesday for April

Whiskey Wednesday Comments Off on Whisky Wednesday for April
It’s the most wonderful time of the month – time for our FREE spirits tasting! This month we’re hosting our favorite single malt scotch expert Steve Hall (and some incredible single malt scotches, of course). We hope to see you on Wednesday, April 26 from 4-7 at Mora’s!
Keep scrolling to learn more about these beauties, and as always, if you can’t make the tasting in person, you can still snag the deals online!
Ron Burgundy has the right idea!
First up is a fantastic 10-year whisky from Speyside. The Benromach 10 is aged for nine years in ex-bourbon and sherry casks, and matured for one in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The resulting whisky is complex, creamy, and layered. Its fruit, nut, and cinnamon aromas are well-balanced by bramble fruit and sherry flavors on the palate. It does have a moderate peatiness, so if you’re a peat fan this is definitely one to try!
Next up is a sweet, smoky Islay scotch – the Gordon & MacPhail Cask Strength is a collector’s favorite. Lively and full of peat and flavor, it’s easy to see why! Resplendent with fruit aromas and flavors, it develops nice smoke as you enjoy it. This exclusive whisky is one to treasure.
Next is the Gordon & MacPhail Miltonduff 10. This beauty’s sweet cereal flavors are balanced by a spicy, grass-like edge. It goes down easily – not too smoky or harsh. The perfect whisky to enjoy with friends (if you feel like sharing).
Finally we have the Gordon & MacPhail Mortlach 15. This Speyside whisky is delectably sweet – have it for dessert and tell everyone you’re on the Whisky Diet! Light in body, caramel and malty in flavor, it’s delectable as a post-dinner treat.

If you can’t make our free tasting, be sure to snag all the deals online!

Whiskey and Girl Scout Cookies – A Match Made in Heaven!

Whiskey Wednesday Comments Off on Whiskey and Girl Scout Cookies – A Match Made in Heaven!
This month’s Whiskey Wednesday is a doozy! Not only will we be featuring some of our favorite American whiskies, Zach will be sampling TWO signature cocktails, and our food pairing is…. drumroll please… delicious Girl Scout cookies!
We’ve always believed that cookies, cakes, and pies are the best food to pair with whiskey, and the Tagalongs and Samoas we’ll be sharing with you are the perfect complement to these delicious American whiskies!

First up we have a quintessential American Bourbon. Simple, classic, and effective, this three-grain bourbon is equal parts spicy and smooth. Made in small batches and aged in charred oak, it’s a perfect streamlined whiskey for you traditionalists.

Next we have the Gunpowder Rye, a whiskey whose flavor is as its explosive as its name. Distilled in small batches and aged in copper pots, this spicy whiskey is big and bold. It has a tinge of malt, with a long, chocolate and vanilla finish. Definitely goes great with our Girl Scout cookies!

Next up is a truly unique whiskey that you HAVE to stop by and try. The Beer Barrel Bourbon is aged in second-use Dragon’s Milk beer barrels. This lends a smooth, biscuity flavor to the whiskey, with gentle toffee and caramel notes on the finish.

Last but definitely not least is a smooth, herbal whiskey tinged with sweet honey flavors. The West of Kentucky Bourbon has an earthy, herbal nose. Its flavors are dripping with honey, molasses, allspice, and smoky charred oak, with a long and flavorful finish.

We hope to see you Wednesday, but if you can’t make it, you can shop all these fine American whiskies online!

A great, moderately priced choice for your collection.

Yee-Haw! Saddle Up for December’s Whiskey Wednesday!

Free Weekly Saturday Wine (and sometimes spirits) Tastings, Weekly Wine & Spirit Specials, Whiskey Wednesday Comments Off on Yee-Haw! Saddle Up for December’s Whiskey Wednesday!
It’s our favorite time of the month – our monthly FREE Whiskey Wednesday tasting! It’s taking place on 12/14 from 4-7 PM at the shop.
This month, saddle up for a full line of High West Whiskies out of Utah – and if you’re lucky, a special treat from Cowboy Rich’s secret stash!
Keep scrolling to see the whole lineup, and if your horse can’t gallop over to the shop in time for the tasting, you can always get the deals online!

So what’s on the lineup this month?
High West American Prairie Bourbon:
A blend of three different Kentucky Whiskies in a top-secret ratio, this Bourbon is perfect for a day of herding cattle across the prairie. As you sit in your cozy armchair in your comfy suburban home, you can take a sip of this red-blooded Bourbon and feel like a genuine cowboy!
High West Distillery Double Rye:
The only thing better than Rye is a Double Rye. High West expertly paired a wild, untamed two-year-old Rye with a more mellow, smooth sixteen-year-old Rye.
The 2-year-old has a 95% rye 5% barley malt mashbill. The older rye has a “barely legal” rye mashbill of 53% rye and 37% corn.
High West Distillery BOURYE:
You don’t need fancy book-learnin’ to figure out that High West’s BOURYE is a blend of premium American Bourbon and Rye. Legend has it that cowboys used to use whiskey like this to lure the elusive (and some say mythical, but what do they know?) Jackalope, which would get tipsy on whiskey and then be easier to hunt.
High West Distillery Campfire Whiskey:
It gets chilly in them ‘thar hills after a day out on the prairie, and the High West Campfire Whiskey is perfect to pass around the campfire and tell tall tales of Jackalope hunting. With complex caramel flavors and subtle smoke, it’s definitely a keeper. You might not want to share it.
High West Distillery Rendezvous Rye:
A full-flavored and complex offering created by blending a sweet, smooth sixteen-year-old whiskey and a bold, spicy six-year-old whiskey. A classic Rye, the Rendezvous is perfect for when you sidle up to the bar at the saloon and catch the eye of a pretty barmaid for a wild west Rendezvous!
High West Distillery Yippee Ki Yay Rye:
Yippee Ki Yay is really the star of the show. It’s smooth enough to enjoy as an apertif or even drizzled over a delicious dessert. It’s also great in a Manhattan. This is for the sophisticated cowboy!
We hope to see you on 12/14 from 4-7 for our Whiskey Wednesday tasting –
and you can always snag the deals online!

Mora’s Whisky Wednesday – November 16th

Whiskey Wednesday, Wine & Spirit Events Comments Off on Mora’s Whisky Wednesday – November 16th
It’s almost time for our FREE monthly Whisky Wednesday tasting! Mark your calendar for November 16th from 4-7!

This month, we’re getting smoky with an assortment of Islay Scotch whiskies from Laphroaig and Bowmore – and just to switch it up, one great Japanese whisky!
Keep scrolling to see the full lineup – and if you can’t make our tasting in person, you can always snag the deals online!

So what’s on the lineup this month?
First up is the Laphroaig Cairdeas single malt Scotch. This 2016 bottling has an aroma of ripe oranges and sweet licorice with a peaty palate. Finishing with a spicy dryness, this smoky Scotch can’t be missed!
Next up is the Laphroaig Triple Wood Single Malt Scotch.  This gold-medal-winning Islay whisky has a buttery vanilla aroma and a spicy, savory palate. Enjoy it over the winter months next to the fireplace – with a few friends, if you’re feeling generous.
We’re also serving up an award-winning Islay single malt from Bowmore. Less smoky than the Laphroaigs, the Bowmore is a kindler, gentler whisky. Its first fill in ex-Bourbon casks gives it a hint of sweet vanilla, while its second fill enhances the creamy honey character. An excellent whisky to enjoy with dessert – or as dessert! “Hold the ice cream, honey – I’m on a diet! Just give me two fingers of Bowmore!”
Finally we come to our unique Japanese whisky, the Hibiki Harmony blended whisky. It’s delicate yet quite complex. You’ll first sense the layered aromas of sandalwood, rosemary, and lychee. The palate is sweet, with orange peel and white chocolate. It ends with a long, tender finish. A truly unique whisky that you have to try!
We hope to see you on November 16th from 4-7 for our tasting – if you can’t make it, you can always shop online!

Sanaig has a predominately sherry cask influence, owing to the significant time spent in oloroso sherry Hogsheads. These aged oloroso casks contribute a drastically transformed depth of color and character!
proper gem of a scotch, with a peaty nose, crumbly biscuit and vanilla palate, and sweet yet smoky finish.

This single cask from the 2009 vintage was aged in a refill sherry butt and bottled at cask strength.

Offering a beautiful balance of tropical fruit, smoky peat, light vanilla, and intense sweetness, this is a great introduction to Kilchoman whisky.
Full of citrus and smoke, this hugely satisfying whisky would be a wonderful addition to any scotch-lover’s collection.
Rated a strong 93 points by the Whisky Jug, this beauty owes its complex toffee, vanilla, and caramel flavors to Kilchoman’s very particular barrel selection and aging process!

Mora’s X Kilchoman US East Coast Tour

Single Malt Scotch Whisky Club Archive, Spirits of the month Clubs, Whiskey Wednesday, Wine & Spirit Events, Wine & Spirits in The News? Comments Off on Mora’s X Kilchoman US East Coast Tour

Kilchoman whisky is one of our favorite whiskys that we carry at the shop. They make a great selection of single-malt whiskys.

Kilchoman Whiskey on sale

Kilchoman Distillery is a small family run farm distillery based on the rugged west coast of Islay. The distillery was established by Anthony Wills in 2005: the idea was to build a new distillery which took whisky production back to its roots. Kilchoman produces its 100% Islay single malt from barley which is grown in fields surrounding the distillery and completes every stage of the whisky-making process at the distillery, including traditional floor malting. Kilchoman is the only distillery in Scotland to do this.

James and Peter Wills, sons of Kilchoman Founder Anthony Wills will travel from Boston to Washington DC in their custom Land Rover making stops along the way to share a few drams and a story or two of Kilchoman, Islay, and growing up in a distillery.

We’re very, very excited to be included as a stop on the Kilchoman East Coast tour! The Wills brothers will roll up to East Setauket in their custom Kilchoman Land Rover on September 30th, and will be at the shop for a Kilchoman whisky tasting from 1:30 to 2:30 PM. We encourage all of our whisky-loving fans to attend – and if you can’t be there, we’ll be streaming it on Facebook Live for you to watch later!
