Tax Refund Season! We Say: Invest in Wine!

Specialty Wines
It’s tax refund season!! What are you going to do with that sweet refund check?

We think that you should spend at least some of it on wine. It’s a good investment –  whether you’re storing it in your cellar, or saving it for a fun night with friends.

We’ve compiled a list of our favorite extra-special “splurge” wines just for you – and a few “save” wines if you’re trying to be more fiscally responsible!

SPLURGE
DOMINUS ESTATE
100 points. This Napa Valley red was rated 100 POINTS by reviewer Robert Parker- a very rare rating indeed! Parker called it one of the most profound wines in esteemed winemaker Christian Moueix’s history. This beauty had a very low yield of only 3,500 cases.
It has earthy, masculine aromas of cedarwood and soil. The flavor is singularly pure and intense. It’s a 40-year wine – buy it now and to open at your 100th birthday party, or your grandchild’s wedding!
PLUMPJACK CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Rated a whopping 96 points by Wine Advocate, this gorgeous Napa Valley red is a true investment. A big, classic Cabernet Sauvignon, it starts with layered aromas of blackberry, cassis, and a hint of camphor. The textured flavors are bold but not brash, and it ends with a nice, long finish. It’s delicious now but its prime is in 10-15 years – definitely cellar-worthy, and we recommend getting a case!

FLORA SPRINGS TRILOGY
This Napa Valley red is highly rated and a real steal for the price. Described as a “wow wine” by reviewers, its plum, licorice, and blood orange flavors leap from the glass. It’s not too loud or flashy, though – elegant, polished, and refined, it’ll drink well for the next twenty years!
CHALK HILL ESTATE RED:

Dense and dark, this delicious red is packed with ripe flavors.  Cardamom and cassis on the bouquet add an exotic hint of spice. Layered fruit and cocoa flavors accompany a lush texture – this one will age spectacularly.
