Weekly Wine Tasting – Week of January 28

Food & Wine
Our goal for this week’s FREE weekly wine tasting is to make you hungry! We’ve picked wines that pair excellently with your favorite winter comfort foods, from gumbo to warm berry crumble.
Keep scrolling to learn more about these beauties, and as always, if you can’t make the tasting in person, you can still snag the deals online!
First up is the Fess Parker Big Easy wine. If you’ve been to New Orleans, you’ll love this robust red! The nose is full of smoked meat, black pepper, and ripe fruit aromas, while spicy dark chocolate flavors dance down your palate. It has a lengthly finish delicious chocolate tannins.
TRY WITH: traditional New Orleans gumbo
Next up is the Tavistock Pinot Noir. It’s definitely on the sweeter side, but its pleasantly surprising and layered nutmeg and tart cranberry flavors keep it from being too sweet.
TRY WITH: a fresh berry crumble, straight out of the oven
Third on the list is the Bayten Chardonnay from South Africa. Totally gorgeous, it has smooth fig and apple flavors layered with sweet honeysuckle and just a hint of shortbread. On sale for under $17, you can’t pass up a taste!
TRY WITH: a simple roast chicken stuffed with thyme or some fresh bay scallops
Next up is our Flegenheimer Brothers Paisant Red. Fresh and elegant, it has raspberry aromas with just a hint of pepper. The flavor is smooth and jam-like, with a nice, energetic lift at the tail end of the finish.
TRY WITH: a roast pork with herbs and cranberry sauce
Last but not least is the Woop Woop Shiraz out of Australia. It has earthy, herbal notes on the nose – not too sweet or fruity. Its flavor is full of wild berries, with a toasty finish. A really, really good wine for an excellent price – under $11!
TRY WITH: root vegetables roasted with fresh herbs and butter.
We hope to see you Saturday from 3-6 for our free tasting! If you can’t make it, you can always shop our weekly specials online!
